Sophie Vong-Karlage

Sophie Vong-Karlage is a nonprofit professional dedicated to building a more compassionate and connected world. Fluent in English, Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka, she grew up in China, lived in Japan, and previously worked as a professional translator. Her lifelong appreciation for language and cultural exchange has shaped both her personal and professional path. 

She is pursuing a Master’s in Philanthropic Studies at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy and holds a Certificate in Fund Raising Management. She is honored to serve on the Board of Neighbors Abroad, bringing a perspective shaped by her experience in philanthropy and multilingual background.

Sophie is also a board member at Silicon Valley Pet Project (SVPP) and a partner at Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2). Sophie shares her life with her husband Sean and two SVPP alumni, Jiffy and Chewy.
