Flor Sanchez

Co-VP - Oaxaca; Vidas y Sueños representative          Term Expires: 8/31/2026
Flor is originally from Oaxaca, Mexico. She holds a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Tourism from the Universidad Autonomous de Guadalajara, Mexico. Prior to moving to the Bay Area in 2021, she lived in New Jersey, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

Flor has extensive experience in the areas of health prevention and chronic disease self-management programs. She has taught Spanish to Kindergarteners and tutored elementary and middle school ESL students.

With her husband, Ken Sanchez, who also serves on the Neighbors Abroad board, she manages Neighbors Abroad's partner program, Vidas y Sueños, a non-profit organization in Oaxaca that provides families and children in vulnerable communities with programs related wellness, health, and nutrition.

Recently they have expanded their mission to sustainability programs, the most significant being in the indigenous village of Yaxe, in Oaxaca, where 50 families were the beneficiaries of a life-changing rainwater capture program initiated by Vidas y Sueños, Neighbors Abroad and other non-profits. The rainwater capture initiative allows the Yaxe families to collect and keep water for personal use, crop-growing and other purposes. The project was recognized with a 2022 Innovation in Humanitarian Assistance Award from Sister Cities International.

You can contact Flor at [email protected].
