Palo Alto

Welcome to Palo Alto!

The City of Palo Alto is more than 100 years old and is named after a majestic coastal redwood tree along San Francisquito Creek, where early Spanish explorers settled.

Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, Palo Alto is a lively, tree-lined town of approximately 70,000 residents. As the global center of technology and innovation, Palo Alto is the birthplace or headquarters of many of the world's most iconic technology companies, including Hewlett-Packard, which was famously founded in a small garage on Addison Avenue. Home to Stanford University and a top-ranked public school system, Palo Alto also has many historic neighborhoods, a vibrant downtown, numerous parks, community centers and other family-friendly and cultural offerings.
