Hank HeubachNominating Committee Chair; President and Treasurer Emeritus
Hank Heubach has a long tenure with Neighbors Abroad, having served on the board from 1992 to 2007 and again from 2015 to present. He has served as President, Treasurer, and as the VP for Sister City, Linköping, Sweden.
He received his B.A. in Physics from Dartmouth College and an M.S. in Physics from the University of Washington. He was a Senior Scientist at Metatech Corporation, specializing in nuclear weapons effects. He also served in various senior research positions at the Stanford Research Institute, now SRI International, including as a Research Physicist in the Radio Physics Laboratory where he worked on programs for the Defense Nuclear Agency, the Air Force Technical Applications Center, the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. While at SRI, he also worked on processing and analyzing electro-magnetic pulse data obtained from nuclear explosions and on the digitization and reduction of ground-motion data from underground nuclear tests. Hank joined the Kiwanis Club of Palo Alto in 1998, formerly served as President, and currently serves on the International Committee, which he founded, the Programs Committee, and the Foundation Committee. He is a longtime member of the Palo Alto Lawn Bowls Club and has served as the club’s Tournament Director and a member of its Board of Directors. Previously, he was active with the Palo Alto Girls' Softball League as a coach, umpire, a member of the Board of Directors, and President. He also participated in the American Youth Soccer Organization as a referees’ field captain and as Associate Commissioner of Referees. He was a referee for a 1984 Olympic Youth Soccer Tournament. He is a member of the Dartmouth College Alumni Association, the Dartmouth College Alumni Association of Silicon Valley, and the SRI Alumni Association.
